David Zinn Makes Delightful Illustrations of Quirky Characters on the Streets of Ann Arbor

David Zinn is a telented self-taught artist who uses chalk and charcoal to create works of street art that cleverly interact with found objects and the surrounding environment. Since 2001, his quirky illustrations have popped up primarily on the streets of Ann Arbor, which is home to the University of Michigan and a thriving local art scene.

Zinn, who happens to be a University of Michigan alum himself, improvises each imaginative piece on the spot. Adorable characters such asĀ Sluggo, a bright green monster, and Philomena, a flying pig, playfully interact with sidewalk cracks, bricks walls, street lamps, and flower petals in the humorous scenes, adding a delightful sense of 3D to the lively illustrations.
