Two New York Police Officers Shot In The Bronx, Police Are Looking For Suspect.

Two New York City police officers were shot Monday while responding to reports of a robbery taking place in the Bronx.

The officers were rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where a spokesman said they were listed as being in “guarded” condition. He said the officers were being X-rayed and CAT scanned, but he did not know the full extent of their injuries.

WABC-TV reported that one officer was shot in the arm, and the other was shot in the back. Multiple outlets described them as non-life threatening injuries.

The shooting was reported around 10:40 p.m. near East 188th Street and Tiebout Avenue in the Bronx. The shooting was preceded by a brief car chase that was initiated when officers, responding to a call of a possible robbery, attempted to pull the suspect over.

“None of the injuries seem to be life-threatening,” the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the situation. “They’re both nonfatal right now.”

It also wasn’t clear if the suspect, who fled on foot after the vehicle crashed, was injured.
