It’s no news that “Unbroken,” the second directorial effort from Angelina Jolie, means a lot to the actress. Jolie recently opened up about the film, which follows World War II hero Louis Zamperini, and shared that “nothing’s ever meant more” to her.
That must have only made it harder for Jolie to announce that she can’t go to her film’s upcoming premiere. In a YouTube video posted by Universal on Friday, Jolie revealed that she won’t be able to attend Monday’s premiere in Los Angeles because she has chickenpox. “I will be home, itching and missing everyone,” Jolie said in the video. “I can’t believe it because this film means so much to me. But such is life. I send everyone my love and hope everything goes well.”
Universal announced on Facebook that her husband Brad Pitt and her children will attend the premiere in her place. “Unbroken” was also shut out of the Golden Globeson Thursday, so it hasn’t been the best week for Jolie.
“Unbroken” opens on Christmas Day.
