Players always look to make an impact from the bench, but Marouane Fellaini’s late cameo against his former club was one to forget.
Former Everton midfielder Fellaini, who was making his 100th appearance for Manchester United, entered the fray at Goodison Park as an 85th-minute replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The visitors were leading 1-0 at Toffees HQ thanks to a sublime Zlatan Ibrahimovic effort just before the break and were looking to seal a precious away win.
Looking to make an impact, Fellaini foolishly clattered into Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye leading to a late penalty, which Leighton Baines converted to secure a late, late draw for the home side.
As expected, Twitter was awash with humorous reactions to Fellaini’s costly lapse in judgement.
Former Everton striker Gary Lineker tweeted a tongue-in-cheek reaction to the Belgian’s late blunder.
‘This is one of Fellaini’s best performances… for Everton,’ posted the Match of the Day presenter.
United fan account Devils Latest posted some jarring stats on Fellaini’s display at Goodison reading: ‘0 tackles won his own half. 1 foul. 1 yellow card. 1 penalty conceded.
An evening to forget for Fellaini most definitely.

Fact. Fellaini has always been an Everton sleeper cell. Today he was activated. #EVEMUN
