A woman was struck by a train in lower Manhattan, New York, this afternoon. According to FDNY, the woman was struck by a 6 train at the Astor Place station around 4 p.m. Saturday. Initial reports indicate she may have jumped in front of the train as it pulled into the station, something which a few witnesses tweeted about.

According to the MTA, the woman was struck while standing on the platform as the northbound 6 train entered the station—they couldn’t confirm whether she purposefully jumped or not, but did say she didn’t fall on the roadbed. They added that she died at Beth Israel Hospital.
