Guadalajara-based painter Omar Ortiz (some of the pictures are not safe for work) recently completed this amazing new oil painting titled Salto de Fe (Leap of Faith). Ortiz is an accomplished hyperrealistic painter and commands fine control over light and skin tone in all of his paintings which he generally paints on large canvases. Hyperrealism is a style of artwork that simulates a high-resolution photo. Hyperrealist paintings or sculptures are not always exact simulations of photographs or real life scenes. Artist actually incorporate ingenious pictorial elements that create an illusion of a reality that cannot be perceived by the human eye.
Omar Ortiz was born in 1977 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico where he still resides. Ever since he was a kid he has been fascinated by drawing and illustration. From the very start he has always attempted to represent elements as realistic as possible as well as maintaining simplicity in his pieces. He loves the challenge of reproducing skin tones and its nuances under natural light.
