A 57-year-old Georgia man is behind bars after Columbia county deputies said he started a relationship with a 15-year-old boy and sent him a package of sex toys.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said Randy Mercer, started the relationship with the teen over the popular gay dating and hookup website called Grindr.com.
The teen’s mom told deputies her son told Mercer his age. The two never met in person, but Randy Mercer tried to get the teen to send inappropriate pictures, according to an incident report.
Randy Mercer also asked the teen if he could bring a package to his home, according to the report. The teen said no, but told Mercer to drop it off at a bathroom at the John’s Creek golf course.
The report said the teen’s mom found the package and found various sex toys and men’s underwear inside the package.
Randy Mercer is facing multiple charges, including aggravated child molestation, a computer porn charge, and enticing a child for indecent purposes.
