James Packer has called it quits with fiancée Mariah Carey, according to a new report.
According to Australian publication Woman’s Day, the billionaire casino don, 48, dumped the 46-year-old pop-star over her ‘extravagant spending’ as well as a falling out over her new reality TV show, Mariah’s World.
‘It’s all over,’ a family friend allegedly confirmed to the publication this week.
‘James had huge reservations about Mariah’s new reality TV show and the fact that she was willing to expose their lives to the world.’
The glossy magazine also claimed that the tycoon has allowed her to keep her $10m diamond engagement ring.
The pair became engaged in January after a whirlwind romance of less than a year.
The duo remained coy on the details of their impending nuptials, but Mariah did suggest that the wedding would be a low-key event rather than an ostentatious affair.
‘I can’t really talk about them right now because everything is still being figured out,’ she teased, noting, ‘I never said it was gonna be a big wedding’, she told People magazine, earlier this year.
The seemingly unlikely couple first set tongues wagging in June last year when images emerged of them holding hands strolling around the romantic island of Capri in Italy.
Both James and Mariah have learned a few lessons in love over the years with the pair having pieced together broken hearts from failed past romances.
Mariah fell out of love with her rapper husband Nick Cannon in 2014, but has since dusted herself off and seems to have found stability with Packer.
The singer and America’s Got Talent host Nick married in the Bahamas in April 2008 after just six weeks of dating and a 10 year age difference.
Marriage to Nick changed Mariah’s mind about starting a family after she had previously declared no interest in having kids, with the singer now a doting mother.
She and Nick, with whom she shares four-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, confirmed their split in April 2014 after months of speculation.
The news comes after Mariah announced the cancellation of most of her South American tour, earlier this week.
The Hero songstress revealed she was ‘devastated’ at the outcome and took to Twitter on Tuesday to share a link to her official statement to E! News.
‘To all of my lambs in South America, I am devastated that a portion of this tour had to be cancelled. Thank you for all of the excitement and love – I hope to see you soon, my darlings!’ she said.
Mariah also shared an impassioned message on Twitter, writing: ‘Devastated my shows in Chile, Argentina & Brazil had to be cancelled. My fans deserve better than how some of these promoters treated them (sic).’
