Cloud Carib Expands Caribbean Data Centre Presence

Cloud Carib has announced plans to build several new data centers, expanding the company’s services across the Caribbean and Latin America.

Cloud Carib is currently launching a refurbished CaribPod data center in Panama. The company, a premier data services provider for the region, also announced immediate plans to extend services to Barbados and Jamaica.

New data center sites will be added to Cloud Carib’s portfolio in Trinidad and the Cayman Islands by the end of this year.

Cloud Carib is a provider of cloud services including private, public, and hybrid cloud solutions, as well as hosted solutions in a self-service cloud portal.

Scott MacKenzie, Chief Commercial Officer for Cloud Carib, noted that the expansion of services throughout the region allows the company to provide clients with the ability to make choices on data services that are best suited to their particular needs.

“Our strategic expansion demonstrates our continuing commitment to clients that we’re delivering best-in-class services directly to them and allowing our clients to choose a location that best suits their needs,” he said. “We’re helping clients design a solution for them, not providing cookie cutter solutions and forcing them to work within those constraints.”

Cloud Carib, founded in 2011, provides cloud and data center solutions to companies in the financial and professional services markets, as well as government agencies. Its data centers are managed by an in-house Command and Control Center, providing 24/7 support and monitoring of security and data center functions.

The Bahamas data center, housed in the Cable Bahamas campus, offers direct in-house fiber links to the Cable Bahamas Internet backbone. Additionally, the Cloud Carib Bahamas data center offers multiple providers, state-of-the-art cooling, UPS and PDU systems, and redundant controls.

Cloud Carib lists partners among some of the largest and most well-regarded of technology companies, including Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, Juniper and Brocade networks. It is a certified offshore vCloud Powered service provider and last year achieved VEEAM Gold Cloud and Service Provider status.

While for some clients, the appeal of stringent data privacy protections in Caribbean countries must be weighed against the danger of natural disasters, particularly hurricanes, Cloud Carib is proud of its record in planning for and managing continuous services in the face of these challenges. For example, when Hurricane Matthew hit the Bahamas last November, the company maintained continuous services by forward planning, backing up and re-routing all data through CaribPod data centers located outside the path of the hurricane.
