Sharon Osbourne has previously revealed that she suffered three miscarriages after apparently damaging her cervix when she had an abortion aged 17.
And the 64-year-old has explained that a dog attack likely contributed to the loss of her unborn child on one of those occasions.
On her show The Talk, Sharon said that her parents’ dogs – a Doberman Pinscher and a Bernese Mountain Dog – attacked her when she was 28 years old.
‘The Doberman jumped up and head butted me… and got me down to the ground and they both attacked me. It was actually my mother that got them off me,’ she shared.
‘I went to hospital and I didn’t know but I was pregnant, and eventually lost the baby.’
The star was in a relationship with husband Ozzy Osbourne at the time, and they married a couple of years later.
Sharon admitted that she was terrified during the attack and became paralysed by fear.
‘It’s the most frightening thing in the world and time goes in slow motion, and fear, I was so fearful, I could do nothing. You’re like a rag doll – I was,’ she added.
Sharon told the story while the hosts discussed the recent news story of the woman who shielded her son from a dog attack.
But her experience certainly hasn’t put her off dogs. The X Factor judge is a huge animal lover and has pooches of her own.
Sharon has previously mentioned losing her unborn child following the dog attack in her book Extreme.
The candid star has also spoken about having an abortion, which she believes resulted in three miscarriages.
‘I had an abortion at 17 and it was the worst thing I ever did,’ she previously shared. ‘I went alone. I was terrified. It was full of other young girls, and we were all terrified and looking at each other and nobody was saying a bloody word.
‘I howled my way through it, and it was horrible. I would never recommend it to anyone because it comes back to haunt you.’
She added: ‘When I tried to have children, I lost three — I think it was because something had happened to my cervix during the abortion.’
Sharon eventually went on to have three children with Ozzy: Aimee, 33, Kelly, 32, and 31-year-old Jack.
