A man reportedly been shot and another stab at the Malibu home model Miranda Kerr.
US sources say the incident took place outside his mansion, but she was not home at the time of the attack.
Reports indicate that an intruder stabbed a security guard in the eye and is said to have guard then fired several shots at the intruder.
The two men were taken to hospital and the TMZ website says both are expected to make a full recovery.
Neighbors and workers who saw the incident climbed the Great Barrier security on the property to help the wounded security guard.
A man who claims to have seen what happened said that the intruder was still trying to attack the security guard, despite suffering gunshot wounds.
“Man, after he was shot, he still had the knife and went after the security man so my boy kicked the knife out of the hands of the aggressor,” a neighbor who goes by the name of ‘Jerry’ he told the television station CBS2 Los Angeles.
“It’s a kind of madness that happens here in Malibu,” another neighbor, Craig Moore, told the television station KTLA.
“I guess it happens everywhere, but just do not always have to happen in our neighborhood.”
LA police were called to the property shortly after noon on Friday, Sergeant James Braden said in a statement to the US press.
“When officers arrived at the residence they found a armed security guard was involved in a physical altercation with an intruder,” Braden said.
“During the physical altercation, the attacker stabbed the armed security guard and armed security guard shot the intruder.”
“There were no occupants of the house at the time of this incident.”
“The incident took place on the property, but not inside the house.”
