A West Virginia pharmacist shot and killed an armed robber from behind the counter who pointed a gun at the store’s workers in broad daylight, shocking video footage of the incident shows.
Don Radcliff who works at the Good Family Pharmacy in the town of Pinch acted quickly to pull out his legally-owned .45 caliber pistol and shoot when a masked gunman named Terry Gillenwater appeared to attempt a stick up at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, WCHS-TV reported. Don Radcliff fired three times, hitting Gillenwater twice and his weapon once.
The pharmacist and the other pharmaciy workers administer first aid, but Gillenwater later died at a hospital in nearby Charleston, according to West Virginia Metro News. Local authorities won’t be charging Radcliff with any crimes for defending the store against the strapped and masked assailant, Kanawha County prosecutor Chuck Miller told the publication.
“I must say it took a great deal of courage for Mr. Radcliff to pull his weapon and fire in the face of a weapon being pointed at him that was fully loaded with a round in the chamber,” Miller said.
“That takes a lot of nerve, but he was completely justified in doing so.” Chuck Miller continued.
