Brazilian Photographer Mariana Godoy is on a mission to destroy the stigma surrounding the word “fat.” Women who don’t have blonde hair, blue eyes, slim hips, and big boobs aren’t considered beautiful in Brazil — even though most women in Brazil don’t fit into that mold.
“There is a lot of prejudice against the word fat there … people judge and condemn fat people,” she said. “This is a fight I really want to win.” Mariana mentioned. A friend gave Godoy the idea for a photo shoot, so she put out a call for volunteers who agreed to be photographed in lingerie and with slogans protesting fatphobia on their bodies.
