Game of Thrones Big Win At Emmys Awards 2016

Game of Thrones has broken the record for most Emmys won by of any series of fiction.

The HBO fantasy drama won in three categories at the ceremony on Sunday, including outstanding drama series.

The total number of samples of awards now stands at 38, which means he has beaten Frasier previous record of 37.

British winners this year included-Dame Maggie Smith, who won supporting actress in a drama series for his role in Downton Abbey.

Veep won the award for outstanding comedy series for the second consecutive year, while its star Julia Louis-Dreyfus won outstanding actress comedy lead for the fifth time.

In his acceptance speech, Louis-Dreyfus, said: “Our program began as political satire, but now feels like a documentary to think.” She dedicated her award to her father, who died on Friday.

Tony Hale, who plays President personal assistant Gary Walsh in Veep, won in the category of actor exceptional cast.

“The Emmys are so diverse this year the Oscars are telling people that we are one of his closest friends.”

Last weekend, Game of Thrones dominated the Creative Emmy Awards, picking up nine awards for technical achievement.
