Halloween 2016: Lena Dunham Costume Mocks Donald Trump

The Girls star unveiled her festive costume on Monday night, which appeared to be inspired by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

“Happy Halloween! With love from a Grabbed P—y” Dunham wrote, referencing Trump’s infamous 2005 hot mic conversation with Billy Bush, dressed as a cat with a pair of plastic hands attached to her.

The recording, that was leaked earlier this month, heard Trump making various lewd comments about women. At one point he was heard telling Bush: “And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p—y. You can do anything.”

Trump later said sorry about the exchange. “I’ve never said I’m a perfect person, nor pretended to be someone that I’m not,” he said.

“Happy Halloween! With love from a Grabbed P—sy,” she wrote alongside the snap of her sporting a revealing black bodysuit, mask and giant paws.

“I’ve said and done things I regret, and the words released today on this more than a decade-old video are one of them. Anyone who knows me knows these words don’t reflect who I am. I said it, I was wrong, and I apologize.”

Dunham, 30, exclusively told PEOPLE that she found Trump’s comments to be “shocking” saying: “I know that hearing those words was painful for everybody.”

She added: “I think women, and people of color, and Muslims who have been searched at the airport, and transpeople who have been denied their rights, all know what it feels like to have their body taken from them. Those comments aren’t just about women — they were about everyone whose body is treated like the property of other people.”
