Peter Kay’s 2017 Dance For Life Tour

Comedian Peter Kay is taking his charity disco night back out on tour.

The Dance For Life “dance-a-thon” sees the stand up star and comedy writer turn DJ PK as he spins four decades of top tunes for three hours.

All the venues will be transformed into giant nightclubs, with enormous dance floors and a state of the art sound and lighting set up.

The shows are fundraisers with all profits going to national charity Cancer Research UK, building on the successful format that Kay launched at the Echo Arena earlier this year.

Speaking about the shows, Peter says: “I’ve honestly never had so much fun as I had working on Dance For Life earlier this year.

“The atmosphere was so happy and positive; it really is a great way to raise money for the worthiest of causes. All people have to do is turn up and dance.”

“I can’t think of a more enjoyable way to raise money for such an important charity than by people simply dancing to some of the best music of the last four decades and as a result changing lives.”

Of course, we all know Peter can bust some moves on the back of his Children In Need single (Is This The Way To) Amarillo and his staring role in stage show The Producers.

But unfortunately for Manchester, fans of the Phoenix Nights creator will have to travel a little distance to see their comic hero getting the dance floor pumping. So far, there’s no sign of a show at the Manchester Arena where the comedian used to work as a steward.

Peter Kay’s Dance For Life 2017 is only stopping at five venues around the country, and the closest he gets to his home town is Sheffield and Leeds.

The full dates so far announced are:

Tickets for all shows go on sale on 9am on Saturday, October 22, and tickets are priced £28.50 via the Ticketmaster and Gigs & Tours website.

Fancy dress is optional, says Kay, and he’s also keen to boost fundraising efforts via his Just Giving page.

Claire Rowney, director of Stand Up To Cancer at Cancer Research UK, adds: “We are so grateful to Peter for hosting his epic Dance For Life events to raise money, we need as many people as possible to join Peter and kick cancer’s ass by dancing the night away.

“The money that is raised from the events will fund vital research so that we can save more lives, more quickly.”
