How to get the iPhone with Sprint:

One option is to pay for it in monthly installments. The other option is to lease it. When you lease it, you have the option of getting a new iPhone in a year and extending your lease payments. Some customers can still get subsidized pricing when renewing a two-year contract, but those options are limited.


There are only four national wireless carriers (U. S. Cellular is the last remaining major regional provider, in the Midwest, along with many tiny ones sprinkled around the country) but there are countless other brands you may have heard of, such as Consumer Cellular and Straight Talk, just to name a few.

All of those brands are just resellers of the four major carriers. Many of the big ones, such as MetroPCS, Boost and Cricket, are owned by one of the four national carriers.

The brands sell “prepaid” service, meaning you pay your bill at the start of the month rather than the end. Most prepaid brands are cheaper, but it often takes months before the latest phones are released. Customers on those brands might get slower speeds, too. Customers on AT&T-owned Cricket Wireless are limited to speeds of 8 mbps—a decent speed but not the fastest possible. T-Mobile, which owns MetroPCS, says customers on T-Mobile-branded plans get network priority over MetroPCS customers in areas of congestion.
