RZA has broken his silence about his Oscar-winning mate Russell Crowe allegedly removing fellow rapper Azealia Banks from a party.
In a message posted on his Facebook page today, the Wu-Tang Clan rapper deplores Banks behaviour during a party at Crowe’s Beverly Hills Hotel suite on Saturday.
He says the Gladiator star intervened to stop Banks from attacking a guest at the party.
“Azealia threaten to cut a girl in the face with a glass, then actually grabs a glass and physically attacks for no logical reason,” RZA says in the post.
“Russell blocked the attack and expelled her from the suite.”
RZA said he felt “embarrassed” because he had invited Banks to the gathering.
“Seeing is believing and I saw her behave as an obnoxious erratic individual and in the circles I frequent this was unprecedented,” he says in the post.
“I was totally puzzles by her and thought maybe … booze … had her zoned out.”
RZA also refutes a claim that Crowe used the N-word during the altercation: “THIS IS NOT A RACE OR GENDER ISSUE. I did not hear Russell call her a N::gg:::: I’m not trying to protect Russell from anything he is a man of his own Caliber.”
Banks, RZA and about 10 other attendees were at the Oscar winner’s gathering including Gladiator director Ridley Scott, Swedish singer Elliphant and Australian comedian Jim Jefferies.
“She did file a police report after the incident,” Banks’ representative told Us Weeklymagazine “She wants to go back to New York.
“She’s not comfortable being in LA after what happened.”
TMZ, quoting witnesses, reported the incident flared when Banks laughed out loud at Crowe’s music selection at the party and called him and at least one other guest “boring white men”.
RZA came on “TMZ Live” and told us … Russell did indeed spit at Azealia like she claims, but he didn’t choke her … nor did he hurl the n-word. He also said she was out of control and violent … and hinted she was wasted.
Crowe allegedly put Banks in a bear hug and physically removed her from the suite after she grabbed a glass and made “bloody threats”.
