Earvin “Magic” Johnson Jr. is an American retired professional basketball player who played point guard for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association for 13 seasons.
In 1991, Johnson married Earlitha “Cookie” Kelly in a small wedding ceremony. He shocked the world in November 1991 when he announced he was HIV positive and it was gotten from cheating outside his marriage.
His wife Cookie, who was pregnant at the time, stood by his side through it all. Their wedding anniversary celebration was held at the Yacht Club de Monaco and famous celebrities such as LL Cool J, Smokey Robinson, Steve Harvey, Biz Markie, Cedric the Entertainer and Pat Riley were in attendance.
Magic is doing much better health wise and has become a popular advocate for HIV/AIDS prevention and safe sex. He and Cookie could not be any happier at their union which brought about their biological son, Earvin III (EJ), and their adopted daughter, Elisa, in 1995.
