Just two days after a tape showing filtered Donald Trump making lewd comments about women has shaken his candidacy in its true essence, the two most important women in his life appeared in the second presidential debate to stand by her man.
How the hand is given to the wife of someone who organized a live Facebook panel dedicated to bringing to light some of the worst parts of his past? Bill Clinton‘s tactic was: cold, awkwardly, and as quickly as possible.
Wife Melania Trump and his daughter Ivanka both went to St. Louis on Sunday and entered the hall debate at the University of Washington, shaking hands with former President Bill Clinton with older children GOP candidate, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.
Later, former President Clinton sat with her daughter Chelsea Clinton and her son-in-law Marc Mezvinsky as the Trump family sat together.
Melania appearance comes just a day after she released a statement in response to the leaked tape showing her husband talking starkly with Access Hollywood host Billy Bush. The tape was recorded in 2005, a few months after the former Trump married Slovenian model.
“The words that my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. This does not represent the man I know,” he said in a statement. “He has the heart and mind of a leader.”
“I hope people will accept his apology, as I do, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world,” too.
Vanka Trump has not publicly commented on the leaked tape, which shows that Trump has to Bush about his sexual exploits.
“I’m attracted automatically beautiful – I just start kissing them,” Trump said in the tape. “It’s like a magnet. Only kiss. Not even wait. And when you’re a star that let you do it. You can do anything.
“We grab them by p-Y,” he added. “You can do everything.”
The Republican candidate released a video of Facebook just hours after the tape was released, explaining that “it is not a perfect person.”
“I have said and done things that I regret and words released today in over ten years, video is one of them,” he said in the video.
“Anyone who knows me knows that these words do not reflect what I am,” he continued. “I said I was wrong and I apologize.”
