Time to see what is happening in D.C again and Jake has booked himself a hotel suite near where Olivia lives for booty calls. Olivia says she does not do booty calls, but she is meeting with Cyrus and so he says she is having a political booty call.
When Liv goes to meet with him, he lets her know that he is a vegetarian now and he needs a favor. She of course says she doesn’t want to but he says she already has money deposited and he can call the IRS so looks like she is going some work, people are missing that are supposed to be going to the state of the union.
When Liv says she is not afraid of the IRS he says that she will tell him that she calls everyday. Looks like Liv has no choice.
In the office the team is back together and it is nice to see Huck and company with Liv and they are doing the usual rundown. When Liv finds the couple that is supposed to be the sweethearts of the nation and at the State of the Union she finds them, arguing a great deal in the home.
He calls her a Queen of her wheel chair nation and she calls him a whiner, Liv can’t get a word in edgewise. When she finally gets them to let her talk she gives a speech about how the President is depending on them and they are the faces of gun control so it’s time to put their asses in the seats.
Back at the white house people wonder where the President is and Cyrus says he is busy. It turns out he is at the cemetery with Melly. Melly who is having issues and now eating chips at her Sons grave, which sadly ends up being photographed and of course hits the rag papers. The media goes nuts and is asking if she has been seen and clinically stated as such while the White house says that she is not insane. Olivia gives them some tips and she is working on bringing in the couple that hates each other.
Jake, meanwhile is trying to find out some murder victims and he is getting the stone wall from David. He does not seem to like that, of course, but what can he do? Well, Jake will do something. Back at the gladiator headquarters Quinn is trying to talk to Huck and he is stonewalling her, or cold shoulders at least. They have to work together, though whether Huck likes it or not.
Liv goes on TV and Abby has a fit she is clearly still very angry and then lets it spill that Huck and Quinn were doing it all over the office, news to Liv of course. Melly and Fitz have to have a talk and she is going all on about fried chicken, Fitz has to show her the pictures of what happened. He also wants her to go to the State of the Union and she starts cackling.
In the end she says she doesn’t care what people think of her and she isn’t going. Cyrus starts having some chicken and talking with her and talks about how a broken heart is a broken heart. Melly says she is through putting on a dress and waving to the cameras and that they are not the same.
David and Abby meet and they talk about some trials and he wonders if he will get eased into it. Of course he does not, but he manages to charm them a little bit with his school quip. The senate meeting committee is harsh and they follow him along being fired or not being fired. Despite that things seem to be going alright.
Huck is watching the male side of the arguing couple and Quinn has the female who is talking about her Husband not having any bitterness, then when he came home. Says he was perfect and he thought she was perfect and that they were in love before all the fame.
While back in the white house Fitz is watching Liv on TV and she is uneasy at home, then calls Jake and he thinks it’s for a booty call. Liv says he should come back and they have an argument over being summoned or not. Liv says she doesn’t like this and he says don’t like it and then goes back to looking at the murder scene pictures he was looking at as well as other information.
The old scheme comes back to bite David in the ass and Cyrus is made, they found the woman beating stuff that Harrison cooked up then buried and David can no longer get his White House job. David then has a fit at Abby about how Liv gets everything and she is not a white hat. Abby doesn’t agree with him though she does not disagree.
Back in the hotel Quinn and Huck have an argument while the other couple is left alone in a room. Well then of course the couple starts fighting as the guy is drunk and they say screw her and screw gun control. Liv arrives and confronts Huck.
David meanwhile, goes into the files that Jake gave him and finds something on the senator who is blocking him and in the end, he says he doesn’t see it as black mail but instead as winning.
Cyrus in the mean time says he has faith that Olivia Pope will not fail and meanwhile Olivia back in the hotel says that they need a divorce. She says that she can spin it for them, they will have to pay money back and take a hit, but that she can spin it, unless they are only together for the fame then best of luck for them. While back at the White House Abby gives Melly a much needed slap that other women in the country have lost their kids and they didn’t get all the time to grieve that she has. That Jackie O had her husband dead in her lap and 99 minutes later stood next to a man being sworn in to replace him. Well, go Abby!
Shockingly Liv manages to get the couple to go and says that this is the finish line. Fitz comes in when Liv was trying to leave the room and they end up talking a bit uncomfortable and then he asks for the room. Fitz ends up going out and making his speech only after Liv has looked it over for him she encourages him to go off speech and is honest about Melly still grieving. Melly who as it turned out, put on her dress and did indeed go to the State of the Union address after Abby’s speech. She was going to wear Blue but went with Red instead.
The speech is emotional and well done by Fitz and seems to get everyone drawn in. Olivia leaves and everything seems to be right in the world of Scandal for a moment. Melly ends up taking off her shoes and pulling her pearls apart as she falls to the floor afterwards and Fitz comes to hold her. She was there for him, but it came at a cost.
Jake is still studying and finding information on the murder, when Olivia comes over with her bottle of wine. She says it is not a booty call and that if she wants to summon him she will summon him. He is about to argue when she takes off her jacket and has nothing on under it, he is summoned. I mean he would be dumb not to be. While elsewhere in the city Cyrus has a bar booty call of his own turns out for him, he hooked up with a male hooker. When he tries to leave the man gets fully naked they don’t do anything and it turns out the worker is working for Elizabeth, well she is a nasty bit of work.
