Cutting down on candy canes isn’t the only thing you can do to avoid sugar overload over the Christmas holidays.
A UK-based food blogger has come up with the ingenious idea of swapping out chocolate for cheese in advent calendars, making the countdown to the 25th an altogether more delectable experience for those who lean more to savoury than sweet.
The cheese calendar includes 24 tiny pieces across varieties such as Blue Stilton, Vintage Gouda, goats’ cheese, French Doux De Montagne and German smoked cheese, that will be vacuumed sealed for freshness. It will still need to be kept in the fridge however, to maintain maximum freshness.
The brains behind the idea, Annem Hobson from blog So Wrong It’s Nom, has been developing the calendar for a year and has just announced that it will go into production in time for Christmas 2017.
She needed 1000 customers to pledge their support to begin making her dream a reality, and reached over 4000 by November 30 – conveniently the day before the advent starts.
In the meantime, she’s put up detailed instructions on how to make your own for the cheese-connoisseurs who just can’t wait. Happy cheese-mas!
We’ve smashed it again! Over 4000 people have signed up to buy one. Doing this for all the cheese lovers who prefer #CheeseNotChoc.
