There is now an app that will help you learn to speak Dothraki as well as Khaleesi or Khal Drogo, the languages used in the “Game of Thrones” tv show.
The app is meant to be a companion piece to a new language course called, “Living Language: Dothraki.” The language itself was developed for the show by a linguist named David Peterson.
The Dothraki Companion app features 15 thematic flashcards with more than 300 Dothraki words, as well as a pronunciation guide, simple grammar tutorials and interactive games.
Peterson had to take some cues from George R.R. Martin’s novels, but he essentially invented the language of the horse lords himself. Luckily, you don’t have to make up an entire language to appreciate it. You can just purchase the app from iTunes.
Peterson said: “It doesn’t really matter if the language is invented or a natural language – you kind of treat it the same way. You start small and you build.
“It’s the best thing in the world learning a language, it’s the most fun.” Check out a little video about Peterson’s process below:
